mobilising local churches to transform lives

Centre for Urban Mission seeks to mobilise and empower local churches in Nairobi’s slums to respond to the needs of those affected by HIV and AIDS in their communities. Many churches are seeking to transform the lives of local people and here we share more about the impact that poverty alleviation schemes, set up by local churches, can have on people affected by HIV and AIDS.

> Multiplying the impact: learn a skill and pass it on

A stepping stone is all that's needed!

Here is just one story that describes the impact that a micro-enterprise loan can have on someone’s life:

John was in his teens and a member of his local church. He was working for a barber shop, but then the shop was burnt down. John was given a loan to buy some new equipment and re-started the business on his own. He has now repaid the loan and employs two members of staff, thereby multiplying the impact of the loan. He is also the youth pastor at the church and oversees the very credit-savings programme that gave him a hand-up. He is now going to college to study theology.
