Recognising that there are many organisations working in the HIV field, we have carefully chosen three niche areas in terms of the projects we support. We want to ensure that our support adds value to our partners and the people they are helping in their local communities. EngageHIV is therefore focusing on partnerships in the following areas …
1) Promoting HIV and AIDS responses in clusters of local churches
Local churches are well placed to understand the needs of their communities and respond with practical help and emotional and spiritual support. EngageHIV partners are enabling local churches to set up HIV initiatives and bring hope to local people.
2) HIV prevention with young people through life skills training and mentoring
Young people are the future. Through them the spread of HIV can be stopped. EngageHIV partners run prevention activities to educate young people and help them make a choice to remain HIV-negative.
3) Working with larger organisations, where practical aspects of the work are supported by secular donors, to ensure that spiritual needs are met and care is truly holistic.
Support from EngageHIV allows our partners to employ chaplains to provide spiritual care to their staff and volunteers and to the people they are helping.
