visit the work
If you would like to experience EngageHIV's work for yourself before you commit to significant regular support, please contact us to talk about opportunities to visit projects in Africa.
Here Trevor Finlay, Managing Director of Vision Asset Finance, describes the impact of his trip …
"Visiting the slums of Nairobi was the most challenging and emotional experience of my life. When I saw at firsthand the pitiful conditions in which children and families are forced to live, it put our comfortable western lifestyle into painfully stark contrast. However, in the midst of so much deprivation and need, it was a real blessing to hear stories of hope from men and women who have directly benefited from the prayers and practical support of EngageHIV partners.
"Returning from Nairobi to my family, friends and business in Northern Ireland, I spent some time trying to process the experiences of the week, and attempting to understand what part I could play to support EngageHIV's work. When faced with so much need, it is easy to be overwhelmed.
"Having established Vision Asset Finance in 1999, I felt that God would want me to make not just a personal commitment to support EngageHIV's work, but also to commit on a corporate level as well. Initially we designed and circulated a company calendar with an EngageHIV insert to all of our customers to raise awareness of my trip. And since then, we have made a commitment to donate 10% of the company’s annual net profits to EngageHIV. Further awareness and fundraising initiatives are also in the pipeline to enable EngageHIV to make an adequate response to the many requests they receive for support.
"It is my personal hope that many more companies and businesses would rise to the challenge of the HIV and AIDS crisis, and financially support the work of EngageHIV as they play their part in turning the tide of despair into a tide of hope for many of Africa's HIV-ravaged communities."
